Santa Cesarea Terme, Lecce

The development site, which is owned by Brioschi Sviluppo Immobiliare, extends to the north of the town of Santa Cesarea Terme, in the province of Lecce and sits on a cliff top overlooking the sea; it has an overall area of circa 1,370,000 sqm and a potential buildability of circa 80,000 sqm.

Brioschi Sviluppo Immobiliare has appointed three architectural firms (Cherubino Gambardella, Beniamino Servino and Roberto Collovà) for the design of a touristic-residential area on the site.

To award the contract for the design, in January 2007, Brioschi Sviluppo Immobiliare set-up an international competition, which was preceded by a pre-selection process that included 10 project managers and landscapers.

The jury’s choice went to the project for a new residential area which embraced the surrounding territory and offered a continuity with pre-existing residential districts.

The three architectural firms were also selected for the sensitivity they displayed towards the choice of the residential units and in their respect for the Mediterranean vision of the territory and the enhancement of the environment.
